EPPC President Ryan T. Anderson and Fellow Carter Snead Sign Groundbreaking AI Ethics Statement in Rome
October 23, 2025
(Washington DC): Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) President Ryan T. Anderson and Fellow Carter Snead signed a new joint statement on Artificial Intelligence (AI) ethics alongside a coalition of Jewish and Christian faith leaders and scholars at a summit in Rome.
The coalition document aims to offer a unified approach to addressing the ethical challenges of AI across faith traditions. At its foundation, the statement insists that AI must serve humanity and respect human dignity: ‘Now, in the era of rapidly developing AI, we believe it is incumbent, not only on companies and governments, but on people of faith, who number more than 6 billion worldwide, to respect, protect, and advance human dignity, rights, and flourishing by ensuring that AI is-and remains secure, safe, ethical, and under human control.’
‘I was privileged to join this august group in signing our joint statement in Rome. Artificial intelligence, if responsibly developed and managed, has the potential to make profound contributions to human flourishing. People across faith traditions must come together to ensure that it serves humanity rather than distorting the dignity of the human person.’ – EPPC President Ryan T. Anderson
The summit in Rome was hosted by the American Security Foundation, which organized the event and statement. Read the coalition statement in its entirety here.
