Our friends at The Ithaca Voice are hosting a new community conversation about how artificial intelligence is beginning to reshape journalism — from newsroom routines to questions about trust, accuracy, and human judgment.
Join them on Thursday, October 23, from 5:30–6:45 pm in the Borg-Warner Room at the Tompkins County Public Library for ‘AI and the News.’
Renowned media expert and Ithaca Voice board member Claire Wardle, an associate professor in Cornell’s Department of Communication and co-founder of the nonprofit First Draft, will explore how AI is changing the way stories are found, verified, and told. She’ll look at the opportunities and ethical challenges facing journalists as new tools blur the line between human and machine-generated content.
After Claire’s talk, the Voice’s Editor-in-Chief Matt Butler will lead a moderated Q&A with audience participation — a chance to share your own questions and perspectives on what these changes mean for local journalism. You’ll also get to meet members of the reporting team and hear how they’re adapting to this evolving media landscape.
Whether you’re a reporter, a reader, or just curious about where news is headed, this event is a great opportunity to join the conversation.
