United Hospital Center receives multiple awards and accolades

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – United Hospital Center in Bridgeport has received multiple awards and accolades recently.
The hospital was named the most socially responsible acute care hospital in West Virginia, according to a ranking from Lown Institute.
‘This national designation, as a top socially responsible hospital in West Virginia, is a tribute to the quality care that UHC provides for West Virginians and those beyond its borders,’ said Dr. Mark Povroznik, vice president of Quality and Safety at UHC. ‘This is why we see some patients driving more than two hours to seek care at our facility.’
UHC also received High Performing status in five procedures by the U.S. News and World Report, including acute kidney failure, COPD, heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia.
The American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines achievement awards also named the hospital for demonstrating commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart disease and stroke, which ultimately leads to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions.
This year, UHC received the following achievement awards from the AHA:
· Get With The Guidelines — Stroke Gold Plus with Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
· Get With The Guidelines — Heart Failure Gold Plus with Heart Failure Honor Roll and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
· Get With The Guidelines — Resuscitation Gold
· Get With The Guidelines — Rural Stroke Bronze
‘UHC is committed to improving care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines and streamlining processes to ensure timely and proper care for heart attacks and strokes,’ said Povroznik. ‘The Get With The Guidelines programs make it easier for our teams to put proven knowledge and guidelines to work on a daily basis, which helps us ensure that more people in our region experience longer, healthier lives.’
UHC’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program was also recently recognized by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, which marks the ninth, consecutive time since 2000 that the program has received accreditation.
‘Patients who are referred to UHC can feel confident in receiving specialized, comprehensive care, which is only further enhanced by this distinctive certification,’ said Angelina R. Davis EP, MS, manager, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab. ‘Receiving this accreditation is a testament to how UHC’s Cardiac Rehabilitation service helps patients with heart disease recover faster and return to full and productive lives.’
