Pfeiffer athletics staff welcomes back over 460 student-athletes

The Pfeiffer University athletics staff welcomed back more than 460 student-athletes on Sunday afternoon in Merner Gym on the Misenheimer campus.
At the annual event, each coach and athletic staff member was introduced to the assembled group and the traditional ‘family photo’ was taken.
Pfeiffer’s first day of classes was Monday. Fall sports began their preparations for the 2024 season last week, as move-in started on Wednesday and concluded on Saturday.
Following preseason scrimmages, the Falcons’ athletics season officially gets underway on Aug. 30. The volleyball team will be the first Pfeiffer team in action this academic year when it travels to Atlanta to take on former USA South foe Huntingdon College in the Jenny McDowell Invitational hosted by Emory University at 4 p.m.
The Pfeiffer men’s and women’s soccer teams will host a doubleheader at Lefko-Mills Field on Aug. 30 in the first home events of the new season. The matches will be the first soccer contests held on the new artificial turf, which was installed last winter.
The Pfeiffer men’s team will kick off at 5 p.m. against ODAC opponent Guilford College while the women’s team will take on former USA South foe Averett University at 7 p.m.
