Beyoncé debuts newest venture: SirDavis whisky

TEXAS — Houston native Beyoncé Knowles-Carter unveiled her latest venture Tuesday, SirDavis whisky. While deep in the era of “Cowboy Carter,” her eighth and most recent country album, the ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ singer shared with fans her deep Southern roots that inspired the American whisky.
SirDavis is described as an 88 proof whisky that marries the flavors of rye with malted barley, is finished in sherry casks and blended and bottled in Beyoncé’s home state. The flavor profile is described as having notes of spice, toffee and hints of fruit.
The whisky was curated in partnership with renowned Moet Hennessy brand and five-time International Whisky Competition Master Distiller of the Year, Dr. Bill Lumsden.
‘With SirDavis, we looked to challenge the category norms and offer something new in the space,’ said Lumsden. ‘The distinctive grain selection and unusual secondary maturation in sherry casks helped us achieve a signature profile completely unique to SirDavis, one of bold sophistication.’
Named after Beyoncé’s son, Sir Carter, and her great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, a successful moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition, according to the SirDavis official site. Beyoncé, who is described as a Japanese whisky enthusiast by LVMH, said learning this anecdote of history connecting her own love for the full-bodied spirit.
‘I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,’ said Beyoncé.
To prove the quality of SirDavis, the spirit was quietly submitted to numerous competitions prior to its debut, raking in several awards: Best In Class for American Whiskey from the 2023 SIP Awards, a Gold Medal (95 points) from the 2023 New York International Spirits Competition and a 93-point rating from the 2023 Ultimate Spirits Challenge, accoding to a news release from LVMH.
