I’d even include animated styles, and anything that doesn’t fall back to retro styling.VECTOR GRAPHICSLess popular than the pixel graphics from the 1980s, Vector Graphics were lasers that would draw perfectly-lined pictures from left to right. There were no pixels and the resolution was infinite, but the shapes and colors were limited. The visual effect is stunning in real life.8 BIT CONSOLEOne of the big kahunas, the 8 bit console area IS nostalgia for so many people.16-BIT CONSOLE/VGAProbably the most loved classic visual style, the subject of a billion pixel art games and the style that combined innovation from limitation AND colorful visuals, the 16 Bit era consoles and VGA era PC games are exceedingly popular.FLAT SHADED 3DFlat shaded 3D games are a mood. They can be nostalgic, stylized, or both! They definitely represent a time period in gaming and I’m quite fond of them myself.EARLY 3DWe’re past the transitory period of 3D and into the generation that had a much better handle on the medium. This period, up until it got covered with mud, definitely had a look and feel to it, a sort of appealing artificiality with enough fidelity you could really get lost in the games.TEXTWho the hell needs graphics?
